What Brand Photos Are Actually Used For

When people think about brand photos, Instagram is usually the first thing that comes to mind. And yes, they absolutely live there. But if that’s the only place your photos are working, you’re leaving a lot of value on the table. As a Cincinnati branding photographer, I see firsthand how clients actually use their photos once they receive a full, intentional gallery.  Spoiler alert: these images show up everywhere. And I LOVE when I see a photo I've taken pop up in our local Loveland Lifestyle magazine, Instagram story, on a client's website or as a profile pic. BEST COMPLIMENT EVER seeing my photos "out in the wild."

#1 Your Website

My clients use their photos on:

Home pages

About pages

Service pages

Contact pages

Blog headers

These images set the tone for their entire business online. When your website photos feel aligned, professional, and intentional, visitors instantly trust what they’re seeing. You’re no longer relying on stock images or outdated headshots that don’t reflect where your business is now.

#2 Linkedin

Whether you’re a small business owner, creative, or entrepreneur in Cincinnati, LinkedIn is often where:

Referrals happen

Connections are made

First impressions are formed

Having a polished but approachable brand photo here makes a difference. It communicates confidence and professionalism while still feeling like you.

This is one of those placements people don’t always think about until they realize how often their profile photo is being seen.

#3 Ads & Marketing

Clients regularly use their images for:

Digital ads

Email campaigns

Promotional graphics

Printed marketing materials

When photos are shot with intention, they’re easy to crop, overlay with text, and repurpose across campaigns. Instead of scrambling for visuals every time you promote something, you already have images that fit your brand and your message.

#4 presentations

One of the most underrated uses of brand photos is in presentations. Clients use their images in:

Pitch decks

Client presentations

Workshops

Speaking engagements

Having cohesive, professional visuals in these spaces elevates how your business is perceived. It shows consistency and attention to detail, even in places your audience might not consciously notice at first.

#5 Social media

Of course, brand photos still shine on social media.

Clients use their galleries for:

Instagram posts and carousels

Reel covers

Announcements and launches

Evergreen content they can reuse

The difference is that these photos weren't taken for just ONE post. You can use them countless ways.

They’re flexible enough to support months of content without everything looking the same. That variety is what keeps social media from feeling overwhelming or repetitive. I use my own brand photos in my stories almost daily! I like to post my TDL with a pic of me cozy on the couch with a notebook or maybe typing at a computer.

Think about IG? Do you see branding photos pop up in a variety of ways? That can be you too!

Why this matters.

The common thread here is intention.

When brand photos are planned with how they’ll be used in mind, they naturally work across platforms. One session can support your website, social media, LinkedIn, marketing, and presentations without feeling forced or limited.

That’s why I don’t shoot for just one moment or one post. I shoot for longevity, flexibility, and real-life use. My clients walk away with a full, ready to use gallery that gives them endless possibilities on how and where to use their photos.
