Think you're ready?
As a Cincinnati area photographer, I see countless businesses in need of updated branding photos. IMO, there are 3 major reason it's time for an upgrade. If you've been debating for awhile about booking your brand session, I want to give you a few ways "check" that it's time. If any of these apply to you, guess what? It's go time.
Here are three signs you're ready to book your branding session: one, your photos are outdated; Two, you're still using stock images and three, you brand has changed or grown. Let's break it down.
Outdated photos look unprofessional
If your photos are more than a year or two old, there’s a good chance they no longer reflect where your business is now. Maybe your hair, style, team, offerings, or confidence has evolved — but your website and social media are still stuck in a previous chapter.

Your brand visuals should match the level you’re operating at today, not where you started. When your photos feel current, cohesive, and intentional, they instantly build trust. If you’ve ever thought “these photos don’t really feel like me anymore,” that’s your sign.

You're relying on stock images
Stock photos can be helpful in a pinch, but when they start doing the heavy lifting for your brand, something gets lost — you. The problem isn’t that stock images are bad; it’s that they’re generic. And your business isn’t.
Your audience wants to see the real person behind the brand, your actual space, your process, and the details that make your business yours. As a photographer in the Cincinnati area, I can absolutely attest to how important it is for clients to see you. Custom brand photography replaces placeholders with personality and turns your online presence into something recognizable, memorable, and credible.
Your brand has grown, changed or both
Growth is a good thing — but it often outpaces your visuals. New services, a refined niche, higher pricing, a more elevated experience… all of that deserves to be reflected visually.
If your brand has matured but your photos still feel safe, basic, or “good enough,” it may be time for imagery that matches your evolution. A brand shoot isn’t just about looking polished — it’s about visually communicating who you are now and where you’re headed next.
One of the absolute best (and necessary!) times to updates visuals is when you open a new space, launch a website, add new teams members, expand your product line or service offerings, get a promotion, move to a new town and about 100 other reasons. Let your brand grow with you.
Which of those reasons best describes your business?
If any of these feel familiar, a brand shoot isn’t about starting over — it’s about aligning your visuals with the business you’ve already built. When your photos reflect your growth, your audience feels it immediately.
